sleepy smiles
this morning i woke up and decided to study at a local coffee shop, thinking it would be open by 8 AM. it wasn't. went to a starbucks, got settled down, ordered a coffee, then realized i left my wallet at home. t-2 hours, left coffee-less and decided to go home to study. i cleared my dining room table, pulled out my book, organized my notes, opened my laptop, and tried, i mean really tried, to study. i should've known that i can't focus with unlimited access to a refrigerator. i left, went to panera, got a souffle. it was my first time having their souffle. it tasted like a lean pocket. i got an iced coffee. i just fill the cup they give me with ice, then go get hot hazelnut coffee. the regular iced coffee tastes like asshole. why can't they make an iced hazelnut coffee? beats me. everyone loves hazelnut, obviously. started to study. got distracted by the different tables around me. there was a table of old korean people, a table of old chinese men, and a table of old people speaking an indistinguishable language. maybe it was portugese or romanian. are those languages or ethnicities? hmm. proceeding forth, i discovered that panera is pretty much a senior center before 11 AM. i didn't mind. old people are nice. most of the old people i know smell like ginseng or tea. sometimes they smell like dumplings. dumplings isn't a pleasant smell, but ginseng and tea are quite nice. finished studying, aka, ran out of things to doodle on my powerpoints. left, went home to lay in bed for 2 minutes, and left again for school. got to school, found parking super easily, which was a nice way to start my school day. got to class, talked to stranger classmates to review notes. realized i knew more than they did, so i left their group. class started, we took the test, i used up half of my eraser trying to figure out the best possible way to phrase a statistical analysis. turned it in, the professor looked at it, told me very good, then asked me to be a TA for his class for the third time. i blushed. no, not that way ya freak. left, went to the wilderness and climbed haystacks. stood deathly close to cactus. jumped on log tables. decided it was wrong for a lady to be so rambunctious. left my happy spot to go tutor my first student of the week. she was a brat as usual, as are most only children. she grunted at me when i didn't give her the answer right away. i bribed her with a mint. she complied. helped her with her homework. had some epiphanies as i helped her brainstorm for her paper. decided that my father is a good father. thought of a good line to say during an interview. settled on my closing words for my sister's marriage toast. she isn't getting married. she isn't even engaged. i just like thinking about her being happy for the rest of her life. finished tutoring and decided i wanted a chicken dinner. what does that mean? off to disneyland! meanwhile, checked my class site to see if grades were up. they were. i got a 97%. i squealed. then asked my classmate what she got and she said 82%. she asked what i got and i told her i got a 97%. she told me to suck her dick. just why. lovely girl really. finally, past the crowds and through long lines, finally got my fix of greasy chicken and mashed potatoes. food coma, initiate. it was cold outside. i love the cold. i love exhaling and pretending i'm smoking. i also love reasons to layer. what i hate is cold hands. i hate cold fingers even more. rode pirates of the caribbean. obnoxiously pointed out everything i thought was new. next, rode indiana jones. realized how much lint i had on my shirt under the black light. must buy lint roller. i love the snake part of the ride. it always gets me excited. decided it was getting late to be out on a school day. it was nearing 8:30 PM. turn down for what? for finals, that's what. got home, ate a bag of cheetoh puffs with chopsticks, disinfected my laptop keys because i don't like germs. bragged to my mom about my exam grade. she gave me a hug. i said good night, came to my room, turned on my heated blanket and here i am, a day later thinking about all the fun things i did. today was splendid. i want to remember it forever.
